Assistant Vice President, User Enablement Technologist
Antares Capital
The User Enablement team is a critical part of Antares, partnering across every function of the firm to help our people get more out of the technology they already have and to adopt what comes next. The team works at the intersection of business process, end-user experience and emerging technology, turning everyday friction into practical, well-governed solutions. The User Enablement Technologist, AVP is a senior individual contributor reporting to the Vice President, Lead Engineer, User Enablement. The role is responsible for designing, building and delivering practical, well-governed AI-enabled solutions that make the firm measurably more effective — and for leading, mentoring and upskilling business teams so they become capable, confident adopters of those solutions rather than passive recipients of them. This is a hands-on, highly autonomous position that pairs real engineering capability with the judgment to work directly with business stakeholders, listen beneath the surface of what is asked to understand what is actually needed, and deliver it within Antares' established technology governance. The ideal candidate brings deep, practical fluency across the Microsoft productivity ecosystem — including Copilot, Power Automate, Power Apps and Teams — combined with meaningful experience applying LLMs and enterprise AI platforms to automate tasks and drive end-user productivity. They are a broad technologist who learns new platforms quickly, is energized rather than deterred by unfamiliar problems, and can move from a hallway conversation to a working solution without waiting for a fully specified requirement. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders across the firm and with partner teams in Infrastructure, Security, Data, PMO and Architecture. Responsibilities Design, build and deliver AI-enabled solutions — assistants, agents, automations and workflow integrations — that solve real end-user problems and are used in day-to-day production. Work directly with business stakeholders to understand how work actually gets done — asking the right questions, listening beneath stated requests to identify root causes, and translating ambiguous asks into clear, actionable requirements. Evaluate and pilot emerging AI and productivity technologies within approved firm platforms, forming an independent, evidence-based point of view on what is genuinely useful to the firm and what is not. Modernize long-standing manual and workaround-driven processes using approved AI and automation capabilities, ensuring replacements are documented, access-controlled, auditable and supportable rather than dependent on their author. Build and maintain integrations across the firm’s core productivity, service management and work management platforms using scripting and APIs. Serve as a support end-user and AI platforms as needed, including light configuration, troubleshooting and escalation — with primary focus on end-user productivity outcomes rather than platform administration. Prepare technology intake submissions, architecture review materials, security review responses and stakeholder requirement briefs for review and presentation by technology leadership. Operate within the firm’s technology intake and governance model, routing requests for Domain Lead awareness, architecture review, security review or formal intake as required, and documenting the basis for the handling path taken. Author and maintain knowledge articles, runbooks and technical documentation to the firm’s documentation standard so that solutions are supportable by others and single-point-of-contact risk is mitigated. Define and track adoption, usage and outcome measures for delivered solutions so that continued investment is based on evidence rather than enthusiasm. Cover the team’s recurring operational and reporting obligations — request and queue health, work-item visibility and management reporting — during absences and peak periods. Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Data, PMO and Architecture teams to ensure solutions are compliant, supportable and consistent with firm standards. Learn the firm’s processes, policies and controls quickly and operate within them, escalating where necessary rather than routing around governance. Remain current with a rapidly changing AI and end-user technology landscape and bring recommendations forward proactively. Lead, mentor and coach business teams in the effective use of AI-enabled tools and Microsoft productivity capabilities — building capability and confidence in the business so that adoption is sustained and teams grow less dependent on IT for routine automation. Exercise clear scope judgment — independently design and deliver small-to-medium solutions end-to-end, and proactively escalate larger or higher-risk requirements to senior management with a well-framed problem statement, risk summary and recommended path forward. Participate in rapid prototyping sessions alongside business stakeholders, turning loosely defined ideas into working demonstrations quickly to accelerate decision-making and build business confidence in new solutions. Qualifications The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of building things that real people use every day, not only of evaluating or advising on technology. Because the enterprise AI landscape is only a few years old, depth of hands-on work matters more here than length of tenure: candidates should be able to walk through solutions they personally designed and delivered, the calls they made without being told what to do, and what measurably changed for the people who used them. Evidence of capability is weighted more heavily than formal credentials. Required Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a technology-related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of professional technology experience in roles that directly support or enable end users — such as solutions engineering, automation, systems engineering, IT product ownership or senior technical support. 3+ years of hands-on experience building and delivering solutions on enterprise AI or large language model platforms, including prompt and context design, assistants or agents, and integration with business systems. Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguity — taking a loosely defined business problem through discovery, design, delivery and handoff without close supervision, while keeping many concurrent commitments visible. Practical scripting and integration ability, including a modern scripting language and consumption of REST APIs to connect systems and automate manual work. Practical familiarity with the Microsoft 365 productivity ecosystem — including Copilot, Power Automate, Power Apps and Teams — with emphasis on how these tools are used to improve end-user productivity rather than on platform administration. Demonstrated ability to deliver within established technology governance — intake, architecture review, security review and change control — and to work within acceptable-use, data handling, retention and records policies applicable to AI and automation. Clear evidence of end-user orientation: patience with non-technical colleagues, genuine interest in their work, and the analytical discipline to distinguish what a business partner says they need from what will actually solve their problem — hearing what is beneath the ask, not just what is on the surface. Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain a technical recommendation to a business audience and document it clearly enough for others to support. Preferred Experience introducing a new AI or automation capability to an organization end to end, including pilot design, guardrails, rollout and support model. Experience with enterprise service management and work management platforms, including workflow, form and reporting configuration. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration sufficient to configure and troubleshoot productivity tools — not a primary focus, but useful context for diagnosing end-user issues. Experience building integrations or extensions using an agent, tool-calling or model-context framework. Experience in a highly regulated environment with formal audit, data handling, retention and change control obligations. Experience in financial services, private credit, banking, asset management or capital markets. Experience with low-code and no-code workflow automation platforms. Hands-on experience participating in or facilitating rapid prototyping or design sprint sessions — where the objective is a working demonstration produced alongside business stakeholders within a compressed timeframe. Strongly preferred: candidates who can describe specific sessions they have led or contributed to and what came out of them. Experience contributing to enterprise knowledge management and technical documentation standards. Relevant platform, cloud or AI certifications. Skills The successful candidate will not be the deepest expert in any single technology, but will be genuinely capable across many — and able to become useful in an unfamiliar one within days rather than months. Equally important is judgment: knowing which problems are worth solving, which solutions will survive contact with real users, and when to decide versus when to escalate. Microsoft ecosystem depth with broad versatility: deep practical fluency in Copilot, Power Automate, Power Apps and Teams as the foundation, combined with credible capability across enterprise AI platforms, automation, service management and collaboration tooling. Rapid learning: able to pick up an unfamiliar platform, form a working mental model of it and deliver something useful with it quickly. On-the-spot solutioning and coaching: able to reason through a problem in real time with a stakeholder in the room, propose a workable path forward, and — where appropriate — walk the stakeholder through the thinking so they build their own capability rather than creating a dependency on IT each time. Critical thinking and decision-making: comfortable making reasoned calls with incomplete information, and clear about which decisions are not theirs to make. Hands-on build capability: scripting, API integration, platform configuration and prompt and agent engineering sufficient to produce working solutions, not only designs. Requirements definition: able to turn an unstructured conversation into a clear statement of problem, scope, stakeholders, dependencies and decisions needed. Analytical listening: asks the right questions, hears what is beneath the stated request, and distinguishes real root causes from surface-level symptoms — ensuring solutions address what the business actually needs, not just what was asked for. Governance literacy: understands why controls exist and navigates intake, architecture, security and change processes efficiently rather than resentfully. Documentation discipline: writes clearly enough that a colleague can support the solution without the author present. Stakeholder management: builds trust with business partners and sets realistic expectations without over-committing on behalf of the technology organization. Operational resilience: holds many small, unrelated commitments concurrently and keeps them visible. Core Technologies and Tools Microsoft Copilot; Power Automate; Power Apps; Microsoft Teams; enterprise AI assistant and agent platforms; LLM prompt, context and tool-calling design; Microsoft 365 productivity suite; enterprise service management and work management platforms; workflow and low-code automation; scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python; REST APIs and integration patterns; knowledge management and technical documentation tooling. The specific tools in use will continue to change — comfort with that change matters more than experience with any one of them. Competencies The successful candidate will be a self-directed operator who is comfortable in the gray area. They will treat an unclear problem as an invitation rather than a blocker, take ownership without being asked, and take real satisfaction from making a colleague’s day easier. They will be ambitious about what technology can do for the firm and disciplined about how it is introduced. Autonomy & Scope Judgment: Operates effectively without direction or hand-holding; identifies the right work, starts it and sees it through. Knows which problems to solve independently and which require senior visibility — and frames escalations clearly with the problem, the risk and a recommended path, rather than simply surfacing an issue. Comfort with Ambiguity: Makes progress on ill-defined problems and clarifies scope through action rather than waiting for certainty. Bias to Build: Demonstrates capability through working solutions rather than assessments and proposals. Learning Agility: Approaches unfamiliar technology with enthusiasm and becomes productive in it quickly. Decision Making: Weighs evidence, risk and effort, decides, and explains the reasoning clearly. End-User Empathy & Enablement: Genuinely enjoys helping people and derives real satisfaction from building their capability — not just solving their immediate problem, but equipping them to handle similar situations themselves. Treats user frustration as a design signal and approaches each interaction as an opportunity to leave the business stronger than before. Ownership & Accountability: Follows through on commitments, surfaces problems early and does not let work go quiet. Discipline within Process: Works inside the firm’s policies, controls and governance, and improves them rather than bypassing them. Communication: Clear and concise with technical and non-technical audiences alike, in writing and in person. Collaboration: Builds credibility with technology peers and business partners, and shares knowledge freely. Analytical Acuity: Hears what is not being said. Asks the right questions, reads between the lines of a stated request, and identifies the real problem beneath the surface ask — ensuring effort goes toward solutions that will actually matter to the business, not just solutions that answer what was typed in an email. Integrity: Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion and high ethical standards, particularly with confidential firm and client information.
