Information Technology Specialist (APPSW/DTMG) (MP)

This position is located Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA). RSA supports the Data Collection and Analysis Unit which collects, analyzes, and reports data submitted by five formula grant programs, including the State Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services program, under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. As an Information Technology Specialist (APPSW/DTMG), GS-2210-14, you will be responsible for: Coordinating cybersecurity compliance, risk management, safeguarding of data privacy, and the maintenance of operational readiness. Designing, developing, and maintaining an accessible web platforms. Designing, developing, and maintaining databases by implementing database structure and systems to developing reporting methodologies. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has interagency agreements (IAAs) with other agencies to ensure efficient delivery of funded programs and activities and move closer to fulfilling the President's promise to return education to the states. Employees may receive detail assignments to these agencies in support of the IAAs. Minimum Qualification Requirements: You may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-14, if you possess the specialize experience. Specialized Experience for the GS-14: One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-13 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: Experience managing information systems, including implementing, maintaining, and evaluating system security controls to safeguard sensitive data or ensure compliance with applicable security requirements. Experience administering and maintaining web-based platforms, such as Drupal, including web accessibility compliance, configuration, management troubleshooting, or incident resolution PHP programming and database management. Experience analyzing business needs and translating them into technical requirements and solutions that improve system functionality, performance, or business operations. Basic Experience Requirements Example (IT Specialist GS-14): Applicants may qualify by meeting or exceeding the minimum proficiency level established for each of the required competencies, in addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement as demonstrated through the assessment of skills. You must possess IT-related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (e.g., IT certification), as appropriate) demonstrating each of the nine competencies listed below. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, vulnerability management, data privacy, and security compliance to analyze risks, implement and maintain security controls to safeguard information systems and ensure operational readiness. Skills in designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining web applications and platforms of Section 508 accessibility standards and requirements. Skills in database design, development, administration, and management to analyze data requirements, develop database structures, optimize performance, implement backup and recovery processes.
