# Technical Writer-Editor, CG-1083-12/13 (FPL 14)

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is responsible for projects related to enhancing the Corporation's programs for identifying, monitoring and addressing existing and emerging risks to the Corporation's Deposit Insurance Fund. At the full performance level, major duties include: Provides collaborative editing, copy editing, and proofreading of financial and economic analysis documents pertaining to the financial services industry, financial markets, FDIC-insured institutions, and the Deposit Insurance Fund. Performs independent research of financial and economic issues; writes and/or edits a range of technical materials, such as reports of research findings; and develops topics and compiles information for studies and for incorporation into policy decisions. Writes financial and economic analytical articles to include in FDIC publications and develops material for compliant release in various formats. Reviews and updates Division's publications manual and writing guidelines and works with Division employees of all grade levels in improving their writing skills. Participates in the design, production and administration of Division risk analysis products in accordance with the Division's mission to disseminate information and analysis to staff, supervisory personnel, senior management of the Corporation, other bank regulatory agencies, the industry, and the public. Aids in the identification of training needs for DIR authors and designs and delivers appropriate training programs.
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-12: To qualify, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience 1) writing and editing economic or financial analytical articles for publications using relevant software and processes; 2) reviewing written documents for accuracy; and 3) researching information to develop documents and publications. CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience 1) writing and editing economic or financial analytical articles for publications using relevant software and processes including artificial intelligence tools, word processing, graphics, design and layout, and desktop publishing software; 2) reviewing written documents for accuracy and ensuring they meet current organizational style, policies, and practices; and 3) researching and analyzing information to develop documents and publications.
