The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible. This Budget Analyst serves as a key financial advisor responsible for supporting the formulation, execution, and oversight of the district's budget. The position analyzes financial data, prepares budget estimates and justifications, monitors the use of funds, develops financial reports, and advises management on resource needs, funding issues, and cost-saving opportunities. The position also supports accounting activities and helps ensure that financial resources are used in accordance with applicable policies and requirements. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Budget Analyst support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of Budget Formulation and Execution, Financial Analysis and Funds Management, and Budget Reporting and Management Advisory Support. Typical work assignments will include: Developing and maintaining budget plans and estimates to support current and future program needs. Reviewing funding requests and recommending appropriate use or distribution of available resources. Using financial, accounting, and reporting systems to track spending, obligations, fund balances, and other financial activity. Analyzing financial information to identify trends, discrepancies, funding concerns, and potential cost savings. Preparing budget and financial reports, schedules, and supporting information, and advising management on financial matters and resource needs. Please note that the announcement was updated to change the Telework Eligible designation from Yes to No. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing at least three (3) of the following four (4) duties listed below: Developing and evaluating budget estimates, operating plans, funding requests, and supporting justifications based on program requirements, prior expenditures, and projected costs. Analyzing financial and budget data to identify spending trends, funding requirements, cost variances, and opportunities for the effective use of financial resources. Using financial management, accounting, or reporting systems to monitor obligations, expenditures, allocations, and available funds; reconcile financial information; and prepare financial reports. Providing technical guidance and recommendations to management on budget execution, resource requirements, funding issues, and the allocation or adjustment of financial resources. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases).
