Security Specialist

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal (Theater) G2 Section. Providing security support for two or more security programs such as Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Foreign Disclosure, Information Security, Technical Security, and related training requirements. Establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient security program by interpreting higher-level guidance, issuing implementing directives, and providing required security metrics to support command readiness reporting. Identifying and resolving difficult and complex security issues by developing solutions, creating new procedures, recommending policy changes, and synchronizing security efforts across the organization. Performing functions within specific disciplines such as reviewing and approving security documentation, performing inspections, providing foreign disclosure coordination, administering case reviews, and delivering security training. Providing technical security advice and liaison support by maintaining contact with internal personnel, briefing on policy changes, distributing guidance, resolving security-related problems, and developing standard operating procedures. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: 1.Providing security support across multiple security disciplines; AND 2.Interpreting and applying security guidelines; AND 3. Conducting security inspections and assessment; AND 4.Coordinating security actions and documentation. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
