Powder Coat Technician

Job Summary Prepare and paint parts and assemblies by grinding, washing, priming, painting or similar activities in compliance to quality standards, drawing requirements and product data sheets. Must work in cooperation with other painters and departments to minimize delays, comply with schedule, meet or exceed standard times, and contribute to the future success of the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare parts and assemblies for coating, including washing, taping, plugging, and surface preparation. Apply powder coat finishes and manage chemicals to meet quality and efficiency standards. Wear and maintain a PAPR protection syste and comply with all respiratory protection requirements. Clean, maintain, and repair paint spray equipment and paint booth to ensure optimal performance. Maintain, adjust, and titrate powder coat wash system; track and manage chemical inventory levels. Perform wet and dry film thickness tests; verify color and surface finish characteristics. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions accurately. Identify and report inconsistencies or defects in materials, products, or equipment. Produce quality parts within prescribed time standards to meet production goals. Accurately record labor hours and work order information; complete operator and maintenance checklists. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. Participate in a team-based, positive work environment and demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills. Comply with PPE requirements and all safety programs. Initiate and support cost-saving and quality improvement projects. Use hand and power tools as assigned; safely operate forklifts, jibs, and cranes for material handling. Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company objectives. Reports N/A Skills and Qualifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints. Knowledge of paint application, mixing, and chemical handling. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills and professional conduct. Basic math skills, including ratios and volume calculations. Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and strong work ethic. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent experience. Previous experience in powder coating or paint application preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Physical Demands Frequent standing and sitting; occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Regularly lift and move up to 40 lbs. Manual dexterity for handling tools and components. Mental Demands Ability to maintain focus on quality and accuracy under time constraints. Short-term and long-term planning for efficient workflow. Work Environment Production floor setting with occasional office tasks. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise level ranges from moderate to loud; PPE required.
