Supervisory Security Guard

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Guards assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at USAG Fort Leonard Wood. Supervise groups of workers through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors. Assign sure that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. Ensure that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed. Plan and coordinate the activities of two shifts of security guards. Perform managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: work with a federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organization planning the activities of a security guard force shift, performing access control operations, administering training to ensure personnel are equip to protect against threats to property and personnel, interviewing candidates for employment, evaluating employee performance, and providing recommendations for leave approval and disciplinary action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
