Supervisory Investigator (WRI Oversight Branch)

This position is located in the DoW Office of Inspector General (DoW IG), Deputy Inspector General for Administrative Investigations (DIG-AI), Whistleblower Reprisal Investigations (WRI) Directorate. The incumbent serves as the Chief of the Oversight Branch and reports to the Director of WRI.
Leads, supervises and directs a team of whistleblower reprisal investigators and oversight support personnel in the oversight and review of complaint evaluations and investigations regarding reprisal in violation of 10 U.S.C. § 1034 and PPD-19.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of the employee; provides technical oversight and reviews work products.
Duties may also involve investigative work for reprisal investigations and special assignments into allegations of reprisal.
Evaluates final reports of investigation and complaint evaluations submitted by Service/Component IGs for compliance with established investigative policies and standards.
Maintains effective liaison with Service/Component IG offices on matters concerning the conduct and oversight of whistleblower reprisal and restriction investigations. As necessary briefs senior DoW OIG leadership on relevant issues and trends.
Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-15 grade level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or equivalent or higher grade in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-14) or equivalent within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience reviewing, oversighting, or evaluating investigations; including reviewing standards, evidence, or investigative reports. Applicants must have experience researching Federal Laws, regulations and other policies, and applying those standards when reviewing evidence and investigative reports. Experience must also include making process improvement recommendations based on trends identified in their reviews and experience leading teams; including assigning and monitoring work and evaluating performance.
