Production Manager

Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operations across multiple product lines. This role ensures production activities safely meet customer demand while maintaining the highest standards of quality, productivity, cost efficiency, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements, including ISO standards where applicable. The Production Manager leads workforce planning, production scheduling, equipment reliability, inventory control, process improvement initiatives, and new product industrialization efforts. This position is responsible for developing and supporting production teams through effective leadership, training, coaching, and performance management while collaborating closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, and international partners to support current operations and future growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production & Operations Management Direct and manage daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, safety, delivery, and cost objectives. Plan production capacity and workload based on customer orders, inventory targets, forecasts, equipment capabilities, maintenance requirements, and workforce availability. Coordinate and monitor production schedules, workflow, and overall manufacturing performance. Create, launch, monitor, and reconcile work orders (WOs), bills of materials (BOMs), production consumption, and labor hours. Ensure efficient operation and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment, processes, and production tools. Oversee and support operation of production equipment including laser cutting machines, bending equipment, and specialized manufacturing areas. Partner with Purchasing on inventory levels, raw material availability, stock movement, and economic order quantities to support uninterrupted production. Analyze production performance and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost performance. Maintain accurate production records, product data, and manufacturing documentation. Leadership & Workforce Management Lead, motivate, develop, and support production personnel through coaching, training, accountability, and recognition. Manage staffing needs including interviewing, hiring recommendations, onboarding, scheduling, workforce planning, and attendance management. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities. Ensure employees receive required job, safety, quality, and regulatory training. Maintain departmental labor records, timecard approvals, and workforce compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Foster a positive team environment focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Quality, Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, ISO, environmental, and safety requirements. Maintain product traceability, quality records, regulatory documentation, and audit readiness. Investigate quality concerns, production issues, and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, products, and processes to identify and address deficiencies. Lead departmental safety initiatives and ensure employees maintain safe work practices. Administer first aid for minor injuries and ensure proper reporting and documentation of workplace incidents. Support and participate in internal and external audits, customer visits, and regulatory inspections. Engineering, Process Improvement & Industrialization Partner with engineering teams on technical improvements, equipment modifications, process enhancements, and quality initiatives. Lead and support industrialization projects for new products, processes, and manufacturing technologies. Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational performance. Conduct production studies, process analysis, and consumption reviews to optimize manufacturing operations. Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams as required. Identify and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability, process capability, and workforce effectiveness. Supply Chain & Vendor Management Generate purchase requisitions within authorization limits and approved budgets. Partner with the Inventory team to ensure receipt, verification, reconciliation, and proper documentation of incoming materials and inventory transactions. Collaborate with supply chain, purchasing, and inventory teams to maintain appropriate stock levels and production continuity. Cross-Functional & International Collaboration Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, purchasing, and other departments to achieve organizational objectives. Coordinate with international teams and external partners regarding technical specifications, drawings, BOM updates, quality requirements, and project implementation. Participate in project reviews, operational meetings, and strategic planning activities. Additional Responsibilities Maintain organized physical and electronic records in accordance with company policies. Support customer, vendor, and regulatory interactions as needed. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Operations Management, Business Management or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 – 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience, including supervisory or production management responsibilities, required. Progressive experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, production management, or industrial operations. Experience in metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or process-driven production environments preferred. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, supervisory, coaching, and employee development skills. Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, inventory control, and operational excellence practices. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proven project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of performance and accuracy. Technical Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with ERP and inventory management systems. Familiarity with manufacturing software, production tracking systems, and related business applications. Experience with Cetec, Salesforce, Fishbowl, Cegid, or similar systems preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds. Regular exposure to manufacturing and warehouse environments, including machinery, noise, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment. Ability to travel occasionally as business needs require.
