# Software Engineer Internship – Marketing and Digital Team

What’s the Marketing and Digital team in our Technology Division? At a time when technology is creating new business models, disrupting industries and creating valuable experiences for consumers, our role as technology team members must elevate an organization through innovative transformation, modernized technology and delivery of new business strategies, including an aim to continuously evolve and enhance the customer experience. This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside developers, marketers, and corporate communications professionals while participating in Agile delivery processes. You'll have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to highly visible web properties and content management systems that support critical business communications. What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include: Collaborate with leaders, engineers, and team members across Wellmark to contribute to meaningful projects, build professional relationships, and gain exposure to multiple business and technology functions. Develop and enhance customer-facing experiences on Wellmark.com using modern frontend web technologies. Design, implement, and improve user interface components with a focus on usability, accessibility, and overall digital experience. Support web content management systems that enable Marketing and Corporate Communications teams to maintain and update website content. Collaborate with developers, marketers, and business stakeholders to plan solutions, gather requirements, and deliver enhancements. Participate in Agile ceremonies, take ownership of assigned work, and contribute to the successful delivery of team initiatives. Ready to bring your strengths to Wellmark? Here’s what’s next! This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines. Current junior, senior or master’s student pursing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field. Experience or exposure in SCSS, CSS, JavaScript, HTML or Frontend web development. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a high attention to detail. Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute. Demonstrated accountability and ability to take ownership of assigned work. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and collaboration tools such as Teams. Preferred: Previous internship, co-op, or campus leadership role. Experience working on website projects or personal web development portfolios. Familiarity with accessibility concepts and inclusive design principles. Understanding of Agile development practices.
