IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)

You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) in the Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station of NAVAL COMP TELCOM STATION NAPLES, Italy. This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of OCONUS Navy Enterprise Network Europe (ONE-Net EU) You will plan, design, and integrate service systems consistent with existing or planned data center infrastructures. You will monitor servers, switches, and other network device status and respond to messages and warning. You will advise and assist customers with technical aspects of the requirements determination, documentation, and justification process. You will develop, consult, submit and track configuration plans. You will plan design and integrate network systems. You will maintain Virtual Private Network availability of 99% excluding planned maintenance time. You will maintain network availability of 99.5% excluding planned maintenance time for all switches, routers and WAN circuits and report all outages to TNOSC Command Operation Center (COC) in accordance with policy and guidance. Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Plan, design, and integrate server systems consistent with existing or planned data center infrastructures. 2. Customer Service • Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Advises and assists customers with technical aspects of the requirements determination, documentation, and justification process. 3. Oral Communication • Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provides technical guidance to assist in preparation of documentation in support of the acquisition of services/materials and keeps the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial matters. 4. Problem Solving • Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Performing a wide variety of duties requiring the application of many different and unrelated processes and methods to a broad range of IT activities or to the in-depth analysis of IT issues. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GG-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an Information Technology Specialist Interpreting Information Technology network standards, protocols, and procedures for customers and senior management to maintain systems and network compliance; resolving critical problems, as well as testing, planning, analyzing developing, integrating, and implementing IT Programs; and/or patch management, software distribution, operating system deployment, network access protection and hardware and software inventory. OR Have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. OR Have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. This position is within the Work Category 451 at Work Level INTERMEDIATE, Series and Grade GG-2210-11.
